Mr. Thompson joined Maxfield Research in 1996. Jay has specialized in conducting market studies for a variety of residential and commercial developments across the Upper Midwest.
Mr. Thompson is well-versed in market and economic issues that affect urban and rural areas in both public and private markets. His focus is on analyzing and determining comprehensive housing needs in regional rural centers in Minnesota, North and South Dakota and Iowa. Jay has specialized in conducting market feasibility studies for mixed-use development projects and downtown redevelopments.
In addition, he has also specialized in conducting housing studies for senior, general occupancy and special needs housing such as emergency shelter and transitional housing complexes. Mr. Thompson's expertise is in utilizing mapping software for specific Maxfield projects.
Prior to joining Maxfield, Jay served as a planner for the City of Lakewood, Colorado where his responsibilities included co-managing the Community Development Block Grant Program and conducting demographic and land use research for various city planning projects.
Jay holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography from Mankato State University, where his course work emphasized urban and regional planning. He is also a licensed real estate agent in the state of Minnesota.
